Dan-Inject Dart

THE DAN-INJECT DART IS ONE OF THE SAFEST DARTING SYSTEMS IN THE MARKET.
People have told me that they have had needles come off while pressurizing the Dan inject dart. I ask them, did you follow the correct procedure and have you maintained your dart? The only reason this might happen is is because the user does not have the correct information on its use and maintenance. Or the user has been careless and has not used the dart properly.

USE POINTY NOSE PLIERS TO SECURE NEEDLE
When placing the needle on the the dart, one must use a set of needle nose pliers to seat the needle properly in the hub, one needs to push the needle down and twist at the same time seating the needle firmly but no need to use to much force. It is extremely IMPORTANT to use needle nose pliers, (the needle WILL NOT be seated properly by using ones fingers only!!) If this step is skipped, the needle can blow off due to the improper preparation.

CAREFUL WHERE YOU PUT THAT SILICONE OIL
If is very important to make sure that no silicone oil has been spilled into the needle hub on the dart when cleaning or lubricating the plunger, if there is silicone oil or oil from oil based drug in the needle hub it will provide lubrication and prevent the needle from being seating properly.

REMOVE THE NEEDLE SOON AFTER USE
A common mistake is that after darting has taken place and the dart has been removed, the person will often leave the needle in the dart for hours or days until they decide to clean the darts. One needs to remove the needle soon after retrieving the dart. By removing the needle soon after use, you are taking the pressure of the needle hub, preventing it from been distorted and loosing it’s original shape.

You can imagine that if one has used only their fingers to place the needle on the dart and with a dart that may have a distorted hub from bad maintenance, it will not be seated tight enough of course, they then pressurize the dart and often they over pressurize the dart, then the needle blows off and the drug comes out. In this case it is not the fault of the dart.

DO NOT OVER PRESSURIZE
Too many users of Dan Inject darts over pressurize the dart, I see this time and time again, they need to be taught how much pressure needs to be placed in each of the darts. This can be seen on our video on our Learning Center at http://daninjectdartguns.com/learning-center/dart-loading/

USE A SAFETY CAP
Dan Inject supplies a safety cap to place over the dart when pressurizing the dart, so should a needle come off, the safety cap will prevent exposure!!

I have concluded that after over 15 years of darting, with all types of darts, Dan inject actually is the safest dart in the market.

After the drug is placed in the dart and the needle is put in place, the dart is completely safe, it is NOT under pressure and there is no way the drug can come out, adding to that, the Dan Inject needle has an occluded needle (it has a closed end) the side ports are covered by a sleeve blocking the holes, again preventing drug from coming out and on top of this all, a safety cap is placed on the dart, again making it even safer (no chance of drug leakage or exposure to needle tips.) The only time the dart becomes a LOADED dart, is once it gets pressurized and that should be just before it is placed in the dart gun.

Also the Dan Inject dart should be depressurized completely by using the venting pin BEFORE it is removed from the animal.

NADeFA Conference March 15 -17, 2012

Dan-Inject Dart Guns will sponsor this year’s North American Deer Farmers Association’s (NADeFA) darting competition. The Conference will be held March 15 through March 17, 2012 at the Sheraton in Dallas, TX.

The darting competition will be on March 15, 2012 from 2PM to 5PM in the Grand Hall.

• Indian Rhino – 2,500 left and none in the wild!
• Sumatran Rhino – Less than 300 left in the world.
• Javanese Rhino – less than 40 to 50 left in the world.
• Northern White Rhino – 7 (SEVEN) left in the world.

It’s not a pretty picture.

But all is not lost. Due to conservation efforts, the Southern White Rhino has been brought back from 500 to approximately 17,000. But poachers are now killing Southern White Rhinos at the rate of 1 per day.

Mike Ross of Dan-Inject Dart Guns is helping in the Rhino conservation efforts currently underway in Africa. Darting Rhinos for conservation purposes, they are able to take genetic samples and embed microchips for identification purposes should an animal be poached. This is indispensable in the forensic work of conservation.

Dan-Inject Dart Guns Will Attend The 43rd Annual AAZV Conference October 22 to 28, 2011

Dan-Inject Dart Guns will attend the 43rd Annual AAZV (American Association of Zoo Veterans) Conference being held October 22, 2011 through October 28, 2011 in Kansas City, Missouri.

2011 AZA Annual Conference in Atlanta

Dan-Inject Dart Guns will be at the AZA Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. We will be in booth 628. It will be held at the Georgia Aquarium & Zoo, September 12 to September 17, 2011.

Dan-Inject Dart Guns Will Attend the TDA Convention August 11 - 13, 2011

Dan-Inject Dart Guns will be at the Texas Deer Association Convention, August 10 – 14, 2011.

Anyone and everyone who has anything to do with whitetail deer should attend the convention. This will be the 13th Annual Convention and Fundraiser. It will be held in San Antonio at the JW Marriott SA Hill Country Resort and Spa.

I am sending you a photo of the first tapir captured with the Dan-Inject pistol. Everything was perfect and we are very happy with the way the pistol worked.

We have taught the local hunters (native indigenous and farmers) and men on the field how to use the equipment. They used to kill the tapir, but now are able to help in their conservation. They are the ones who have darted the tapir in the photo.

The Dan-Inject pistol comes in two versions. There is the CO2 Pistol and the Foot Pump Pistol. The Nativa Foundation has chosen to use the Dan-Inject CO2 Pistol for their work. Why?

• Pistols are smaller than rifles.
• They’re easier to hide from animals. Animals seem to be aware of equipment and care must be taken to avoid spooking your subject.
